Delta Delta Delta

As one of the largest female organizations nationally, Tri Delta is represented in hundreds of collegiate chapters throughout the US including a handful of chapters in Canada as well.

Tri Delta is best described by its sisters as a “home away from home”. It is that comfortable place that you can come to and know you can always find the love and support of your sisters, no matter the situation. A recent alumni once said, “Our individual sisters are never defined by our chapter; rather, it is the quality and diversity of our sisters that define our chapter.” Each individual in Tri Delta is unified by a genuine respect and support for one another. Each sister brings their own personality to create a extremely diverse group of talented and dedicated woman. Tri Delta has woman involved in all majors, various campus organizations and activities and representatives on Student Councils and Associated Students. The Gamma Lambda chapter at UCSD has ladies pursuing to become future doctors, lawyers, teachers, environmental and social advocates, conservationists, political leaders, athletes and so much more. The ladies pride themselves on the strong sisterhood whether it is from  our weekly dates-with-a-sister program, the variety of outings, our socials or the constant support for a sister.

The chapter is founded on a platform of leadership, perpetual bonds of friendship and a womanly character. By providing multiple opportunities for leadership positions and growth and encouraging members to be involved, Tri Delta leave this chapter as better leaders than they ever imagined they could be. Tri Deltas are always strengthening our friendships and sisterhoods while creating long lasting memories. One of our core values, perpetual bond of friendship, is something each and every girl takes to heart and uses as a value in her life. The constant support and friendships created within this chapter are ones one will not be able to find anywhere else. Tri Delta strives to create a “more womanly character” within it members whether than means academically, professionally or individually. We strive for high academic scholars and well rounded women, something the four founders built this national organization upon in 1888 at Boston University. With weekly study rooms and study sessions to creating programs to find sisters in similar majors and classes, the Gamma Lambda chapter is constantly keeping academics a first priority.

The ladies of Tri Delta go beyond their individual chapters to create friendships amongst sisters at other chapter and local and recent Alumni. By creating a mentorship program and enhancing the collegiate-alumni relationships, Tri Delta woman are proud to claim that many of their future endeavors come from the support of the alumni. We travel to other local chapters to show our support in their Philanthropy events and major Tri Delta gathering.

Tri Delta take immense pride in their commitment to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. St Jude treats children without regard to race, religion, creed or ability to pay. It is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. The hospital’s daily operating costs are approximately $1,216,247, which are primarily covered by public contributions. Since 1999, Tri Deltas around the nation have helped raise $3.5 million to St Jude. Tri Delta committed to name the Patient Care Floor in the new Chili’s Care Center at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. A new commitment for $10 million over a period of 10 years was implemented in 2006. In July of 2010, Tri Delta completed this $10 million goal in only 4 years! Tri Delta recently made a new commitment to St Jude to raise $15 million by 2015 to name the Specialty Clinic for all St Jude patients. In just a little under 2 years of this commitment, Tri Delta nationally has raised over $6 million, getting us one step closer to our goal. Our dedication and commitment to St. Jude is reflected not only within the hospital with our symbols, letters and pictures everywhere but also within the patients that are admitted. Every child at the hospital has an appreciation for the sister of Tri Delta and we frequently receive thank you cards and recognition from children and families of all ages.

The Gamma Lambda chapter is a place where no one is asked to change who they are but rather accepted and embraced for the genuine character. We provide a strong support system and a constant dedication to build sisterhood, friendships and relationships that will last beyond the college years.
