Expansion Contract

Expansion Contract

The Inter-fraternity Council of UCSD seeks to promote the best interest of the university and the community of Greek letter social fraternities therein. As such, the priority of the council will always be to maintain the highest standards of member fraternities. The executive board of IFC welcomes organizations to apply for the expansion process upon receiving an invitation letter as detailed in the following timeline. Relevant bylaws and expansion policies are attached to this document.

Week 1 – When deemed fit for expansion, the Inter-fraternity Council of UCSD will send an invitational letter to the North-American Inter-fraternity Council extending an opportunity for eligible NIC fraternities without an established colony or chapter on campus to send UCSD their informational materials along with an interest letter for consideration of expansion.

Week 3 – By this date IFC will no longer accept informational materials or interest letters from any organization.

Week 4 – By this date, the executive board of IFC will review all submitted material from all member fraternities of NIC and select two candidate fraternities for further consideration of expansion onto UCSD campus.  These fraternities will be notified and will be sent any relevant materials or information.

Week 8 – After all candidate fraternity presentations are made, the President’s Council will by the end of this week endorse a fraternity (determined by two-thirds vote) and forward the organization to the Greek Life Advisor and the Director of the Center for Student Involvement for further consideration of expansion.

Week 10 – By this date, the endorsed candidate fraternity will be notified of the decision made as to whether or not the organization has been approved for expansion. If so approved, the candidate fraternity shall assume affiliate status in IFC at the start of the following quarter.
